Chapter 252

◇◇◇

It has been six months since Ryūgūin went on a rampage in the royal capital, but Sensei is still traveling with Mika. As a result, Ichiro and Sena are living together modestly, just the two of them.

It would be a lie to say they aren’t lonely, but they still manage to lead fulfilling days – developing new menu items, cooking to satisfy Sena’s appetite, and spending their time observing strange plants together, reading books, training, and various other activities.
The two of them are somehow managing to enjoy their time together well enough.

Some might wonder why Eris isn’t there. There’s a reason for that.

It’s not that Sena rejected her presence – quite the opposite.
Eris, who sometimes acts like an obedient younger sister and other times like a deeply loyal retainer, had somehow started calling Sena 「Lady Sena」 and had naturally become part of their cabin life, fitting in without any sense of awkwardness.

So where did she go?
The answer lies in an inn a short distance from the foot of Boldaf’s Hidden Mountain.

While Eris had gradually become a resident under the same roof, when they returned from the royal capital, Orphe had tagged along with her.

They argued for half an hour with exchanges of 「Go home!」 「I won’t!」 「Get lost!」 「I won’t leave. I’m Ichiro’s disciple!」 until Sena, growing tired of it all, settled things by forcefully beating Orphe down.

When Orphe regained consciousness, she wasn’t discouraged at all despite being thoroughly defeated.
She challenged Sena again, and again was completely demolished.

Sena called her 「persistent,」 but this is where Orphe’s true nature really showed itself.

「You lost. Go home.」

「It’s not a loss unless I acknowledge it as one!」

「This is pointless.」

「If it’s pointless, does that mean you’re giving up?」

Orphe, who was instantly crushed and beaten to a pulp, made a dash retreat from the scene, and as if taking a parting gift, kidnapped Eris in the process.
Just as they were starting to worry about what those two were up to, they set up a tent right next to the cabin and moved in.

From then on, Orphe would challenge Sena whenever she appeared, or slap down a challenge letter with a 「Fight me!」 whenever she felt like it, suffering crushing defeats each and every time.

Furthermore, deciding that one person wasn’t enough, she and Eris would inexplicably team up to challenge Sena, only to be dispatched swiftly, repeatedly, again and again…

Though they hadn’t kept count, Sena must have gotten fed up with it.
She was tired of Orphe, who had started calling her 「Boss」 without permission and kept challenging her over and over.

After fending off countless challenges, Sena heaved an enormous sigh with a face like she’d bitten into something sour.

「You two are really annoying.」

She wore an expression they’d never seen before, looking like she might spit out a 「ptuihh」 at any moment.

「Fine, I’ll allow you both to live here together.」

When Sena gave her permission, not only Orphe but also Eris, who had already been half-accepted, rejoiced.
However—

「There’s a condition.」

Sena announced.

「Lady Sena… me too?」

When Eris asked, Sena solemnly nodded.

「No way…」

Oh my, looks like the atmosphere has changed…

「The condition is simple and clear. You must be able to climb from the foot of the mountain to this cabin on your own power. However, you cannot use stealth tools or teleportation magic devices. If you do…」

Sena’s words carried such intimidation that Eris and Orphe broke out in a cold sweat. This was, well, hitting the nail right on the head.

And so, the two were kicked out of the cabin (poor Eris got caught in the crossfire) and made their base at an inn near the foot of the mountain.

However, they are both incredibly strong swordsmen to begin with.
Even right after being thrown out of the cabin, the two of them could already reach about the fourth station of Hidden Mountain.

Recently, they’ve been earning travel money by taking on requests from the guild, and spending the rest of their time attacking Hidden Mountain. They’ve finally managed to climb up to around the sixth station on their own.

「Just wait for us, Master!」
「Shifu, we’re almost there!」

I can’t help but have a bad feeling about those statements from the two of them.
