The Magic Sword Nidhogg – This legendary weapon is also known as 「The Obedient Gluttonous Dragon.」
It possesses an obedient nature, able to transform at its owner’s will into any weapon imaginable in this world – be it a sword, spear, whip, bow, or even a rifle or morning star. Yet, it harbors a ferocity equally as intense as its obedience.
The unleashing of its savage nature. The manifestation of this ferocity is the fatal strike delivered by the Gluttony Glaireaud.
Among its various forms, the Gluttony Glaireaud is the most unstable. However, by using a massive amount of the wielder’s own mana, along with all the mana stored within the magic sword itself, its existence can be fully solidified into reality. And once its existence is fixed—
KYUIIIIIIIN!! The Magic Sword Nidhogg, now transformed into a gigantic mechanical bow, emits an even more intense light. The sound, resembling that of machinery in operation, echoes multiple times.
「You all!! Ten seconds!! Follow me!!」
Purume shouts. She feeds every last drop of her mana into the magic sword with its bottomless appetite. The key is to ensure the arrow doesn’t pierce the ground.
「Five, four—」
Her countdown approaches its finale.
The Gluttony Glaireaud, formerly the Magic Sword Nidhogg, not only absorbs the surrounding mana to maintain its existence but also converts all beings into mana, continuously absorbing without limit.
「Two, one— Discharge!」
These words of release tell the raging dragon that it no longer needs to hold back. And Purume, an expert archer among the elves, will never miss her target at this distance. Everything is ready.
The Liquid Dragon and the Obedient Gluttonous Dragon (Magic Sword Nidhogg). Coincidentally, it has become a battle between two beings bearing the name of dragons.
「FIIIIIIRE!!」
Purume’s usually calm and collected voice erupts in a fierce roar. Following her command, the mages behind her unleash a barrage of colorful high-level spells that fill the sky. Then, the arrow of light released by Purume breaks the sound barrier, leaving a trail of brilliance as it— pierces into the Liquid Dragon— DOBBAAAN!!— The arrow, embedded in its liquid body, blows away more than half of its body including two of its heads, completely absorbing and annihilating those parts— and disappears high into the distant sky.
「GUUURURURURURUOOOOOOOOUUUUUUOOOOOOO!!」
For the first time since the battle began, the monster’s agonized cry shakes the air. The countless high-level spells that hit moments later continue to utterly destroy what remains of the Liquid Dragon’s body.
However, in a final act of defiance, the Liquid Dragon raises its remaining left foreleg and activates some kind of spell. Perhaps imitating Purume’s Grave Mine, countless spheres, each about thirty centimeters in diameter, float in the air.
「I know. You’re still not done, are you, monster?」
Having used the Gluttony Glaireaud form of the Magic Sword Nidhogg, Purume has exhausted her mental strength and mana to the limit, barely able to stand. Yet, considering the anxiety of her party behind her, she puts on an act as if she feels no fatigue at all.
Then, staring down the Liquid Dragon as it makes its last struggle, she utters:
「Release.」
The two Imitation Gold swords—artificial magic swords imbued with the Liquid Dragon’s mana, thrown earlier with the intent of not piercing through its liquid body or being expelled—finally respond to her words. They cause a massive mana explosion inside the Liquid Dragon’s body, completely obliterating what remains of it.
