Chapter 87

The three of them are my trophies.
They are the perfect trophies to satisfy my ego to the fullest extent.
Of course, I myself am the recipient of everyone’s admiring gaze. Even the ignorant commoners’ eyes light up when they see me.
And for good reason.
In just a few short years since I was summoned, I’ve conquered seven of the previously unconquered Nexby Dungeons (Newly Constructed Most Challenging Dungeons).
What were they doing during the long period before I appeared?
The people of this world are laughably incompetent.
Moreover, they still haven’t managed to conquer even a single Nexby Dungeons. This is evidence of how utterly useless these monkeys are.
What I’m trying to say is that my achievements are truly unprecedented, unparalleled, rare, and historical.
And that evaluation alone is completely insufficient to adorn me.
I’ve always had a policy.
What a superior man needs is money, status, and ability—and beautiful trophies to embellish them.
For example, if you were to bring a hundred, no, a thousand ordinary women and line them up next to me, it would be utterly meaningless.
No matter how many glass beads you gather, they can’t compare to a real gem.
That’s why having them (the heroic girls) attend to me has significance.
All church officials bow their heads to the Saint.
All mages direct envious gazes at the wise.
All knights and swordsmen show reverence to the sword saint.
All of these praises are essentially directed at me, who possesses these trophies.
I can always bask in an intoxication that feels like some substance is oozing out in my brain just by remembering it.
And each time, I reaffirm it.
I, Ryūgūin Ouji, who has achieved humanity’s first great feat and furthermore commands the respect of all three (plus one) who are revered by all of humanity—I am the person who should be worshipped above all others in this world.

「I’m coming in,」 she says.
There’s no response from the room, but as this is usual, she enters anyway.
She doesn’t think it’s rude at all.
She—Siesta—is a nun in her early twenties.
As she enters the room, she wrinkles her nose at the thick smell of lust. This is something she can never get used to.
The blonde hair visible from under the blanket mumbles, 「…Water.」
Siesta gives water to the owner of the blonde hair, then efficiently begins cleaning the room, starting by opening the window.
Ordinarily, she wouldn’t be in a position to do such menial work. But it can’t be helped. This was usually Saint Mika’s job. Siesta has been sent in place of Mika, who has departed.
Originally, she has a caring personality and tends to take on tasks that others dislike, so she doesn’t mind cleaning at all.
However, she can never get used to the gaze of him—Hero Ryūgūin—who even now is eyeing her body hungrily from the bed.
「Sir Ryūgūin, I need to change the sheets.」
Ryūgūin crawls sluggishly out of bed. Siesta quickly stuffs the sheets, stained with the bodily fluids of multiple people, into a basket, internally lamenting that she can’t hold her nose if she could.
「Two people have come to see you today.」
Siesta informs Ryūgūin, who has plopped himself down in an armchair.
「Two people, you say?」
He asks back, clearly in a bad mood from the fatigue of his night’s activities with multiple partners and a hangover from excessive drinking.
「Yes. The first is Leopard, the leader of the A-rank adventurer party ‘Tycoon’. It’s been about a week since I arrived here, and since it seemed you weren’t able to train as you wished, Sir Ryūgūin, he’s come to be your training partner.」
Ryūgūin closes his eyes and leans back, saying nothing. Siesta continues:
「The second is someone you’re familiar with, Sir Ryūgūin. It’s Balen, the Guildmaster of this town of Lemone.」
The armchair creaks.
「The other day, Balen—」
Ryūgūin turns his face towards Siesta as she continues her explanation.
「That’s enough. Stop talking. What exactly are you thinking, trying to waste my precious time?」
Siesta, dutiful as ever, tries to explain, 「Well, the other day—」 But this doesn’t sit well with Ryūgūin.
「Didn’t I tell you to stop talking?」
He did indeed say that. But he was also the one who asked, 「What exactly are you thinking?」 Contradictions piled upon contradictions—that was him, Hero Ryūgūin.
「You don’t understand how valuable a hero’s time is in the first place.」
The hero crosses his legs dramatically.
「In the other world (Japan), there was a famous person who boasted about ‘earning 100 million yen in an hour.’ And in this world, my position is even higher than his. So you understand, right?」
Siesta doesn’t understand at all.
To begin with, she is not only skilled in recovery magic but also a talented woman well-versed in various fields, meant to travel with the cardinal to other countries.
Even someone like her couldn’t understand what he was saying—or rather, couldn’t understand him at all.
Which one of them is truly foolish?
Siesta asks herself this question in her heart.
