Chapter 9
Up until now, I’ve healed Arde and Domingo, two slaves with amputations, and have gotten quite used to healing magic.
Even for a state of impairment as severe as Arde’s, I can probably now heal most slaves.
So, I’ve decided to start selling slaves.
If I have them do quests like Domingo, I can get regular small change.
But now, I wanted to get a large sum all at once here.
If I get ahold of a substantial amount of money, I can use that as capital to do all sorts of things.
Money was essential for me to survive this death flag.
If I buy impaired slaves cheaply and heal them, I should be able to sell them for more than I bought them for.
So, I went to the slave market again.
I found a young female slave named Hallelujah.
She had just been sold to the slave market and was frightened by people’s stares, so I took pity on her.
Hallelujah was still young, and it didn’t seem like there would be much demand for her as a sex slave.
She had a pretty face, with just her left leg and right arm missing.
I brought Hallelujah home and healed her.
「Um, Master Eld, thank you very much. I am grateful that you healed me.」
「I don’t need your thanks. I just maintained the condition of my product so I could sell you at a higher price.」
Once Hallelujah was healed and I had her take a bath, she was quite the beauty.
Not just a simple beauty, she had an air of refinement about her.
She might have been from quite a good family.
There was probably some reason she was made a slave.
Well, all slaves have some story or another.
Noble customers who come to buy slaves visit the Schmerzen house regularly.
Separate from the slaves who work here, we acquire and sell slaves as merchandise.
The main customers are nobles.
The Schmerzen family has long been slave merchants, and have quite a bit of trust from the nobles.
Many customers come to my father’s slave trading company every day.
I asked my father if I could sell Hallelujah there.
And I was allowed to accompany him to the slave trading company.
We added Hallelujah to the catalog, and then just had to wait for her to sell.
With her looks and bearing, Hallelujah was young.
She was quickly purchased by a noble customer who had his eye on her.
「Master Eld, though it was short, thank you again. I will never forget the great favor of healing my body, no matter who my master becomes.」
「Ah, do your best over there too. If you get hurt again, I’ll heal you.」
Don’t neglect the after service.
I’m worried about Hallelujah since she’s timid and weak-hearted.
I hope she was bought by a good person but…
The one who bought Hallelujah was a noble named Count Semond.
Among the customers on the list, he was one who could be called very high quality.
At the Schmerzen house, customer information is compiled in detail.
Based on how the customers treat their slaves, they are ranked.
There are all kinds of customers, from those who treat their slaves terribly to virtuous ones who treat them too well.
My father preferred to sell to customers who treated slaves badly.
Because those kinds of customers break their slaves quickly, so they sell again.
But for selling young Hallelujah, I wanted to sell her to a virtuous noble.
Well, Count Semond is a good payer too.
I don’t really care what happens to Hallelujah, but I’d be annoyed if the arms I healed got broken or something.
It’s not like I’m a doctor, and this isn’t a hospital.
For reference, I bought Hallelujah for 30G and sold her for 7000G.
It was quite a profit.
Just buying impaired slaves cheaply and selling them at a fair price gets this much.
It just shows how low the value of impaired slaves is.
Anyway, this is a good business.

Then a few days later, Count Semond visited the store again.
That time, Hallelujah was following behind him.
When Hallelujah found me, she smiled and came over here.
She seemed to be doing well, so I was relieved.
「Um, Master Eld, thank you again. I am now happily living after being purchased by Lord Semond.」
「Oh, that’s best of all.」
「Thanks to Master Eld, I have been blessed with a very good master. Now I live at Lord Semond’s mansion, and am treated tenderly like his daughter. This is all because Master Eld restored me to how I was before.」
「You exaggerate.」
「No, if I had remained an impaired slave, I would have only been purchased by terrible places. But thanks to you healing me, I have my current fortunate treatment. I am truly grateful.」
「I’m glad to hear that.」
It’s strange when you think about it.
To be thanked by a slave I sold.
Normally, slave merchants would be enemies to slaves, right?
Oh well, I intend to continue doing business this way.
I hope Hallelujah can keep living happily like this.
