Millia Francklow. She is the second princess of the Francklow Kingdom where I reside. Possessing overwhelming magical talent and natural beauty, she is a girl who, due to certain unique circumstances, finds herself in an unfortunate position within the palace.
「It’s alright, don’t worry, okay? I promise I’ll save you.」
She says with resolve, clenching her fist in front of me.
「It’s because of me that you got involved. At the very least, I must save you… I can’t let you die just when you’ve obtained the ticket to enroll at the academy and when your life was about to take a brighter turn.」
The girl who got captured alongside me by the members of Al-Reten. Judging by her appearance and voice, she’s undoubtedly Millia Francklow, one of the main heroines of the game.
I don’t recall any mention of her being abducted by Al-Reten in her backstory. Most likely, the timeline changed because I rashly saved her in Noenth’s territory. What a mess I’ve made… The price to pay for a single meal at Highend is too steep.
「I’m not some helpless nobody. I can be of help too. Just because I’m from the slums doesn’t mean you should underestimate me.」
「Oh… I’m sorry.」
She says genuinely, after hearing my words.
「Don’t worr…..!」
I’m about to accept her apology when I sense multiple presences approaching the cell where we’re imprisoned. Acting swiftly, I grab the girl by the mouth and press her against the wall.
Using my body to completely shield her, I manipulate the blood—a tool as essential to a vampire as their limbs—to cloak us. The exact mechanics are beyond even my understanding, but the blood controlled by a vampire has a chameleon-like function, merging with the surrounding walls and objects.
Hopefully, anyone coming to our cell will assume we’ve escaped… It’s wishful thinking, but doing something is better than doing nothing, right?
