The King had been ill for some time. I had heard about it from Alto, so I had been periodically giving Alto healing orbs to pass along as treatment for the king. We made it seem like it was Alto’s achievement, so that he could secretly heal the King. But it seems that could only go so far. The King had finally died of old age. We did our best, but in the end we couldn’t defeat lifespan.
And so, Alto succeeded to the throne. But because of that, who could have expected such a thing to happen—

「Lord Eld! Welcome, thank you for coming!」
Alto greeted me like that. Even though he’s become king, he still respects me by calling me “Lord.” I had come to the castle at Alto’s request.
「So what’s going on?」 「Actually, I was thinking――」
Then, Alto made an outrageous proposition.
「――of starting the Eld Religion!」 「Huh, whaaaat????」
I was totally confused. My mind went blank. What is this young king saying…?
「Hey, do you understand what you’re suggesting?」 「Of course! I’m the king now, so I want to establish the Eld Religion to venerate you, Lord Eld, and make it the state religion! That is my destiny as king, I believe!」 「Huh, whaaaat…?」
Oh man, this guy… this is bad, really bad… Did I raise Alto’s loyalty too much? I never imagined he admired me this deeply. What is this Eld Religion thing…?
「Wait, what’s this religion? Will you even get followers…?」 「Of course we will! At least the 50,000 soldiers I command are already believers!」 「Already…!?」
Come to think of it, the 50,000 slaves I had conscripted to defeat the Demon King still work for Alto as soldiers. They feel indebted to me for healing their injuries, so they revere me like Alto does. I guess they’re the followers…
「That’s not all! I’m sure Mr. Domingo will convert to the Eld Religion too!」 「Well… I guess so…」 「So many citizens were saved by you, Lord Eld! And you’re the one who really defeated the Demon King! Of course people will convert!」 「I don’t know about this…」
And so, I ended up involuntarily deified. Oh well… do whatever you want…
