Some weird rumors have started going around that joining the Eld Religion can cure any disease or something… Could Alto be the one spreading them…? Anyway, I’m not a doctor or anything… Now that I’ve finally avoided the destruction flag and gained my freedom, I have no intention of pretending to be a doctor. But the problem is, there are folks who totally buy into those rumors.
「Lord Eld! Please! Heal my daughter!!!!」 「Shut up… and go home!」
First thing in the morning, some guy shows up at my estate screaming stuff like that. It’s so damn annoying… Also, did Alto publicly announce that the Lord Eld of the Eld Religion is me? Does this mean all sorts of people are gonna start bothering me at my house now…? That could be bad… What about my privacy…? I’m not actually a doctor, so I can’t be expected to just go around using healing magic to help total strangers I have no connection with. It’s not like I have any particular desire for world peace, nor am I so charitable as to provide healing for free.
「Please, do something…! I’m begging you! I’ll do anything! I have money! I’ll pay any amount…!」 「Oh? How much did you just say you’d pay…?」
I thought about it for a moment. It’s true that I’m filthy rich right now. But who knows what could happen in the future. Especially with Alto having started some bizarre thing called the Eld Religion. There’s no telling what nonsense he might pull next. So it’s probably best to keep stockpiling money for the future.
「Alright, if that’s the case, I’ll sell you this.」 「Really!? Thank you so much!」
I decided to sell the guy a healing orb. Since orbs normally go for 50,000G each, I sold him a healing orb for 100,000G. That’s 50,000G profit for me.
「Hmm, this could turn into some nice extra income…」
After the man left, a few weeks passed. But then, a line started forming around my estate, full of people other than that first man.
「W-what’s all this…?」 「A line has formed of people wanting you to sell them healing orbs, sir…!」
My gatekeeper slave explains it to me. Ugh, I guess this was inevitable… But I can’t very well turn them all away now. If the Eld Religion’s reputation turned bad, it could lower Alto’s loyalty to me as well. Alto is still someone I need to watch carefully. If I end up in trouble in the future, he’ll likely be the cause. So to keep him on a leash, it’s probably best if I play along with this Eld Religion thing. Reluctantly, I sold healing orbs to the others as well.
「Thank you so much! Thank you!」 「Long live the Eld Religion! Long live the Eld Religion!」
