Chapter 46
The adventurers I have been dispatching as my subordinates have increased considerably compared to Domingo’s time.
I had Domingo train the slaves, increase their numbers, and expanded into quite a large-scale operation.
Management of the slaves is also partially left to Domingo and Otto, and is organized.
Among the Adventurer’s Guild, we had formed what is called a Clan.
Clan 【Eld’s Sword】
It was a large organization that the slaves working under me belonged to.
A clan is a grouping above the party level, coordinating multiple parties together.
Within the clan, equipment and item exchanges were actively carried out, and information was also shared.
Among the Adventurer’s Guild, our clan had become the second largest clan.
Then, our reputation also improved somewhat.
Various rumors began circulating about us.
Clan 【Eld’s Sword】 apparently has very profitable rewards.
And even weak guys can level up through the well-developed curriculum.
Equipment loans are also substantial, so even slaves can earn.
However, all the members are slaves of the Schmerzen family.
That’s the kind of talk that was going around.
Perhaps because of that――
Several adventurers came to my mansion and started saying things like:
「Lord Eld! Please make us slaves of this house!!!!」
「Ha, haah….???」
Why are these guys, who work normally as adventurers, saying they want to become slaves?
I’ve never heard of people who want to voluntarily become slaves.
But the adventurers bowed their heads and pleaded with me.
「Please! Form slave contracts with us…!!!!」
「Haa…?」
For now, I decided to hear them out.
According to their story, they seem to be low-rank adventurers.
They said all the ones gathered here are adventurers without talent, stuck at rock bottom.
So they don’t earn much money and their levels don’t rise either.
They were all fed up with lives like that.
They don’t have prospects for switching to other jobs besides being adventurers either.
That’s why they came here, they said.
「Please! We can’t earn much like this. So isn’t it better to form a slave contract with Lord Eld and earn with Eld’s Sword?!」
「Are you serious about this…?」
「Yes! I heard that Lord Eld’s slaves are treated very well. It’s become a hot rumor at the Adventurer’s Guild!」
「Hmm, well I don’t particularly mind but…」
Well, they’re the ones who came to me wanting to provide labor.
For now, I decided to hear them out.
「I will treat you guys like normal slaves, you know? Are you okay with that?」
「That’s fine! Being a slave is better than that kind of shitty life!」
「Alright, then let’s form a contract.」
I formed slave contracts with all the gathered bottom-tier adventurers.
With this, I’ve suddenly increased my personnel.
I wonder if this clan of mine is really profitable?
Well, if I think about it properly, I do provide more substantial support compared to other clans.
Even small fries can reach a decent level through healing orb training.
If they get seriously injured, I can heal them.
I prepare and lend out good weapons and armor using my money.
I provide all their living expenses, and 20% of their earnings are pocket money.
Even 20%, for higher ranked adventurers, becomes a decent amount.
Thinking about it like that, it’s probably a better life than working as free low-rank adventurers.
Alright, while we’re at it, let’s try posting a recruitment notice too.
I decided to post a notice with the conditions in front of the mansion.
「Huge recruitment for adventurers…! There, this should do…」
Then, there were quite a lot of applicants.
They’re all fine with becoming slaves…?
Many of the recruits were vagrants and unemployed.
I hired all of them in one go.
Thanks to that, my clan became the largest scale clan.
This should make me even more money.
◆
【Townspeople’s POV】
A crowd had gathered around the recruitment notice Eld posted.
Mixed in were those with low incomes, vagrants, and homeless.
Some were craftsmen working in terrible conditions, and some were office workers at normal government agencies.
They openly voiced their impressions of the notice.
「What’s with these high wages…!」
「This good treatment is unheard of these days…?」
「What are these conditions, it’s like the best workplace…!」
「It looks way better than my current job…!?」
「I might seriously change jobs…」
And so on – Eld doesn’t realize it, but these are quite attractive conditions.
That’s how impoverished many people were.
