The ground collapses under the force of Mireille’s attack. Bound by a sealing spell, I can’t stop my descent and plummet into a vast hall I had not previously noticed.
Scrambling to my feet, I quickly survey my surroundings. No enemies in sight, and no apparent traps. What is this place? Confused about the nature of the hall into which I fell, I halt my thoughts and unfurl wings of blood from my back. I need to get back. Fast.
「Here I go.」
I leap upwards, retracing my fall to get back to where I came from.
「RAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!」
However, a deafening roar accompanied by a barrage of small stones greets me.
「What the… Where from!?」
Unable to dodge or defend in time, I’m pelted by the stones and thrown back to the ground.
「…Ugh.」
Taking a deep breath, I regenerate my battered body and rise to my feet once more, locking my gaze onto the source of the attack.
「…Uh… Ah… Aaaaaah.」
A towering figure stands before me, easily reaching a height of 5 meters. Has he taken some drug? Frothing at the mouth and letting out an incomprehensible moan, his bloodshot eyes dart around wildly. I quickly realize that he’s probably one of the giantkin – a massive member of a demi-human tribe.
「Giantkin… What a nuisance.」
The giantkin are known for their sturdy and robust bodies, and their staggering height. However, as if to compensate for their physical might, they inherently can’t wield magic. When pitted against magic users, they often become sitting ducks.
I can’t lose to a giantkin. But defeating him will undoubtedly take a considerable amount of time.
「Fuh~」
I exhale deeply, manipulating my blood to form new clothes to replace the tattered ones and craft a blade that would serve as my weapon.
「Stay safe, okay?」
Bracing myself for the imminent battle, I mutter these words under my breath, prepared to face the giantkin head-on.
