The main character, Kang Woojin, reminds me of Lee Hoyeol/Granfel from “The Player Hides His Past.” Both characters were forced to adopt a cool-headed persona (in Lee Hoyeol’s case, it is his actual personality) because of their skills. While they seem cool on the outside, internally they’re quite different. I’m not sure why, but I find this very interesting. Maybe it’s because it shows how close they are to being normal people, and perhaps it’s also because we can imagine ourselves becoming like them… Nothing too deep, haha.

Both “I Was Mistaken as a Monstrous Genius Actor” and “The Player Hides His Past” are fun reads. If I had to pick which one is better, I’d say it’s “I Was Mistaken as a Monstrous Genius Actor.” The translator and editor (maybe) did a great job on the translation. As for “The Player Hides His Past,” it could be better. I know DeepL is a great tool for translating Korean, but they should at least try to get the nuances right. (I apologize if it actually gets better later; I only read up to chapter 60+)

I just bought both volumes of “Outer Ragna” from Play Books (published by J-Novel) the other day but haven’t had time to read them yet. It’s also a novel about misunderstandings, and the concept is quite similar to “This Village Sim NPC Could Only Be Human.” I’m looking forward to reading it, probably in about a month.

Actually, I have already translated two chapters of Outer Ragna earlier this year, but I didn’t know it already had an official English release. The Japanese name is wildly different (though it had that “Outer Ragna” in katakana—which I didn’t realize), and it wasn’t listed on Novel Updates. So I thought to myself that maybe I should be the one to translate them. But I was wrong.

This turned out to be quite a lengthy post. I know there’s no specific point to it; I just wanted to share what I’ve been reading this past month. :/
